Husker Red Beardtongue – Penstemon
Penstemon digitalis ‘Husker Red’
Known for its red foliage and stems, with white flowers that are tinged pink. Blooms early to mid-summer. The leaves are 7″ long and toothed. Utilize in a perennial border, natural plantings, or rock gardens. Also good as a cut flower. Well-drained soil is essential as it will rot in wet soils. Perennial Plant of the Year for 1996.
