FloralBerry® Rosé St. John’s Wort

What an outstanding and gorgeous small shrub this is as it has unique yellow flowers in summer  followed by rose colored berries in fall. The branches are thick with dark green foliage, making a wonderful hedge.   We recommend covering it with mulch in fall as it is a Zone 5 and we do not warrantee it.  However, we have grown and warranteed other Zone 5,  St. John’s Wort shrubs as they have proven to survive our winters.  The flowers also make great cut flowers.  For more information, click FloralBerry® Rosé St. John’s Wort

Forsythia

Nothing says spring is here like pussy willows and forsythias.  The Northern Gold Forsythia was introduced way back in 1979 in Canada.  This shrub grows 6-8 ft high and has a spread of around 5-7 ft.  It is very hardy, Zone 3-8.  This shrub has outstanding flower color and bud hardiness.    If you are looking for a smaller forsythia, we have Gold Tide Forsythia, which only gets about 2-3 ft. tall and 3-4 ft. wide.  This shrub is hardy in zone 4-8.  Forsythias look amazing if you plant them as a large, sprawling screen.  If size is a concern, then you should prune the larger ones back to about 2 feet right after flowering.  Plant these shrubs as they will put a smile on your face in spring when they bloom.

New – Nubia Boulevard Red Clematis

An exciting reblooming, gorgeous “red” clematis.  These dark red flowers are 5″ across and bloom from June to September.  The vine grows about 5′ high and will grow in full sun to part shade.  It would look great in a large planter by your entryway.  Since it blooms from both the leaf axils and stems, there are flowers from the ground up.  This is a Zone 4 clematis.  We also have other beautiful clematis’.  So stop in when they arrive to get your selection early before they are gone.

New – Black Tower Elderberry

We are excited to be carrying this new variety of the Elderberry (sambucus).   Black Tower has stunning, purple burgundy foliage which will give you that much needed color among your green shrubs. In late spring it produces beautiful pink flowers followed by blackish red berries in fall that will be appreciated by wildlife.  Black Tower grows to about 6-8′ tall and about 3-4′ wide.  This shrub attracts birds and butterflies.  It grows well in full sun to partial sun.  Zones 4-8.   Photo by Monrovia.

New – Winecraft Smoke Bush

This is no “green” shrub.  It starts the season with rich purple foliage, becoming deeper in color until it is nearly black, and then in fall it turns a brilliant orange..  This semi-dwarf dark-leaf smokebush  is a Proven Winners, therefore you know it is special.  Early summer brings wispy redflowers that become the beautiful, hazy-violet “smoke” that gives this plant its name.  It has a rounded, semi-dwarf habit.

Height:  4-6′

Spread:  4-6′

Foliage:  Summer – purple black
Fall – brilliant orange

Exposure:  Part sun

Zone:  4-8

New – Grace N’Grit Pink BiColor Shrub

We think you will love this new shrub rose we are carrying. Some of us employees can’t wait to get it planted in our gardens.  It gets about 5′ high and 4′ wide.  It will bloom summer through fall.  These are roses you can pick for a bouquet of pink and white bicolor roses on a fuss-free shrub.  This rose will endure the trials of a long, hot summer with an unwavering blooming zeal.  An outstanding, disease-resistant, own-root, self-cleaning rose that thrives coast to coast in humidity and heat as well as in dry, hot summers.  Makes a dynamic hedge barrier or accent plant.  Zone 4.
